The Battle of Chu and Han

The book of "Chu and Han" has 36 plays and 10 sections. Three copies exist today: one is the copy of "Puyueji" in the first year of Xuantuo in the late Qing Dynasty, which states that "there is one play of "Saying Chu" missing in the book. After comparing it with other late Qing Dynasty copies of the same name, the same "Saying Chu" is not found. It can be seen that the early puppet play "Chu Han year front" originally "said Chu" a play, but to the Yanqing, because of rare performance, in the recopying mostly not recorded. The second is the copy book which is not marked with the date of copying. This book has many missing pages and some pages are badly torn at the side. From the paper quality and the degree of damage of the book, it is obvious that it is earlier than the copy of the first year of Xuantuan. The third is a codex of unknown age. The book is not a complete "fallen cage book", but a number of excerpts of the play out. The first and second transcriptions of the play out of the order, performance tips, song text and words, etc., basically no major differences. The book is most famous for its "North (net)" line of important plays, such as "Deprecating Fan Zeng," "Beating the Iron Cart," and "Farewell to Concubine Yu," all of which are preserved plays for puppet shows that never fail. There are also plays such as "The Humiliation of the Crotch", which is called "Fishing and Slaughtering the Pig" by puppet theater performers, and is also the most popular play among the people.
