Huang Chao's Sword Test
"Drop cage thin" "Huang Chao test sword", a total of 32 out, the old name 10 sections. Today there are two kinds of copies: one for the Qing Guangxu nonwu year (1882) a store account book overturned and folded copy, can be regarded as the Guangxu years copy; two for the Qing Daoguang nonchen year (1832) copy. The first copy of the "front book" is partially missing, and the last three plays of the "back book", "The Chase", "The Touchstone" and "The Reunion" are all scattered. In the second copy, the "front book" is missing "Court Discipline", "Ge Eviction", "Huang Chao Sigh", "Dream Omen", "Tour of Chongmei Temple", "Out of the Fairy" and six other performances, and only two or three fragments of "Garden Meeting" remain, but fortunately, the "back book" is basically intact. The book is also a kind of puppet theater "Baiwen", which narrates Li Cunxiao's suppression of Huang Chao's uprising. In the folklore of southern Quan, the opera of Li Cunxiao's story has been quite popular. In the puppet play "Huang Chao tries the sword", the story of the marriage between Cui Shu and General Shi is full of romance, showing a kind of pure and sincere humanity in the midst of the bizarre and weird. It is difficult to know whether this story was written exclusively for puppet theater, or whether it was originally written. The story of "The Tomb of the Emperor" is almost all in the "native language" of Quanan, which is witty and vivid, but also elegant and vulgar, with many poetic riddles.
