The Three Kingdoms
The whole book of "Three Kingdoms", from "The Peach Garden" to "The Return of the Three Kingdoms to Jin", consists of 18 books, which should be said to be the most ambitious continuous stage play in the history of puppet theater in Quanzhou, accounting for almost two-fifths of the total number of "books", with a performance time of 250 hours. The performance of the story of the Three Kingdoms on such a scale is rare among the ancient genres of Chinese opera. The Three Kingdoms" is basically an adaptation of the historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", but there are a small number of plays in it, some of which do not appear in the original plot of the novel and obviously come from another source, such as "Zhang Fei gets the sable cicada", "Elopement against orders", "Miao Ze gets", etc. Although all these plays have another book, they have been adapted and integrated by puppet plays, and are very aptly integrated into the story line of the "Three Kingdoms", fully reflecting the profound folk art of Quanzhou This fully reflects the deep cultural heritage of ancient folk opera art and the historical accumulation of Quanzhou puppet theater.
